Both the mobile apps and the desktop dashboard do a good job of providing centralized control of most, but not all of your Hive products. (There’s no desktop support for the Hive View camera yet). With this feature, you can tell your thermostat when you go on holiday. The thermostat will maintain a set temperature to prevent your pipes from freezing. When you return, it will greet you with your desired temperature. The only way to obtain constant power over USB on a US model is to tinker with the back plate’s terminals in order to route the USB cable from the wall to the thermostat.
I installed the Hive Alexa skill and added the Hive device to the Google Home app, and both platforms recognized the three active products that I had installed. Both platforms correctly turned on and off each of three devices individually. I put the three devices into Groups or Rooms , and all responded appropriately to voice commands, as well. The lights dimmed as expected using voice commands issued to either smart speaker.

They are easy to install and let you heat each room just how you like. What makes the devices more interesting is the ability to build what Hive calls 'Actions'. These make the various devices much more useful and personal to you. The Actions tab can allow you set up various alerts, allowing you, for example to be notified by text or email if the door opens. As you mostly only want to know about is happening in your house when you aren't there, having those alerts sent during the periods when the home is empty makes more sense. Get alerts when movement's detected at home and link to other devices like our smart lights or plugs for even smarter control.
